Refunds and vouchers
Requesting a refund
You can request a cash refund via our online refund system. This system checks if you’re eligible for a full cash refund or only part of it. You can also use the system to check the status of your request. We’ll try our best to process your request as soon as possible.
Note that separate policies are in place for:
Refunds and compensations
If your flight was cancelled by the airline, you can rebook your flight, or request a cash refund. We’ll try our best to process your request as soon as possible.
Bookings through a travel agency
Unfortunately, you cannot use our online refund system if you booked via a travel agent. We advise contacting your travel agent first, as they have all needed information to arrange your refund. You can find contact details on their website. If you prefer, you can also contact us for more information.
Unfortunately, you are not entitled to compensation based on the EU Regulation 261/2004. The cancellation of flights due to COVID-19 is considered an extraordinary circumstance, which exempts airlines from paying compensation.
We will look at each compensation request individually. However, the waiting times at the KLM Customer Contact Centre are very high, thus we ask you to wait with contacting is unless the situation is urgent. Thanks for your understanding.
Please contact your travel insurance company directly for more information.
Allianz insurance
Our partner Allianz Travel has expanded its insurance coverage regarding epidemics and pandemics. This includes cover for you or a travel companion who is diagnosed with COVID-19 or placed into an individual quarantine due to exposure to the virus. For the cover details, please refer to the policy terms & conditions.
Travel vouchers
- Purchased your ticket on or after 29 June 2022? It is no longer possible to get a travel voucher. However, depending on your ticket conditions, you can still change your flight or ask for a refund.
- Purchased your ticket between 1 March 2022 and 28 June 2022 with any departure date? In that case, you can request a non-refundable travel voucher.
