Rugged and wild: desert safari in Dubai
Roaring engines, enormous sand trails and deep tyre tracks in the dunes: a desert safari is a popular excursion for visitors to Dubai. Race across the blistering hot sand in a large four-wheel drive, or maybe ski down some sand dunes – anything is possible in Dubai.
Skiing in the desert
A desert safari by jeep is best described as a combination of a ride on a roller coaster and a bumper car. Racing through the sand dunes at high speed, the powerful SUVs cling to the steep dunes at such an angle that they seem almost about to roll over. For those who want a more relaxed safari, a camel ride through the sands is also a fun thing to do. Have a go sand-skiing or perhaps enjoy a visit to a Bedouin village.
An overnight tour in the desert
Conclude a thrilling desert safari with a sumptuous barbecue and live music, hookah pipes and of course a belly dancing performance. Another possibility is to spend the night in the desert. Nothing compares to the experience of sleeping out in the open under a blanket of stars.

Wellness
In the mini state of Dubai, home to 600 hotels of which 65 are 5 stars or higher, it will take a lot more to impress guests than a simple bottle of wine or free Wi-Fi in their room. How about a hot tub with a view of 65,000 bright fish in a subtropical lagoon? Or perhaps a dining table at a ski slope while the outside temperature rises above 40 degrees?
Shopping
It is no longer the largest shopping centre in the world − that title has belonged to The Dubai Mall since 2008 − but the Mall of the Emirates is definitely still the craziest shopping centre in the world. It has a ski slope, après-ski bar and ski chalets, hundreds of clothing stores and approximately 100 bars and restaurants. The mall is also home to two 5-star hotels, a theatre, a multiplex cinema and the largest Harvey Nichols outside of England.
